Chef Andrew Cardillo

Chef Andrew has 20+ years of culinary expertise in independent restaurants, as a corporate chef in hotels, and as a private chef from the East Coast to the West Coast. The name "Culinary Nomad" represents the rich history of all his travels and training gained before officially setting his roots in Des Moines.


Chef Andrew’s love of food started in his Italian Grandmother’s kitchen as a young kid on the East Coast and as a teen gained a variety of kitchen experience in independent restaurants in Connecticut. After high school he attended the French Culinary Institute (now the International Culinary Center) in New York City and Staged at Asia De Cuba in downtown Manhattan. Since then, he’s spent countless hours in the kitchen, traveled as a private chef, created menus for and catered thousands of events in major cities such as New York City, Fairfield (CT), San Diego, Chicago, and Des Moines. He has been on opening teams for new concepts in independent restaurants and large hotels.  In the fall of 2018, he moved to West Des Moines to set his roots and start a family with his wife, Nina. Upon entering the Iowa Food Scene as Executive Chef at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown, Chef Andrew won the Iowa Restaurant Association 2018 Culinary Competition Tasting Gala!  After a few years, he decided to take make his dreams a reality and started this small business creating a restaurant on-the-go concept that includes the food trailer, catering and private chef experiences.
